My name is Olivia Wilson. I was born, raised, and am currently living in Staten Island, New York.
Growing up, my Dad was a carpenter, among many other things. Needless to say, before I was 10, I was handling power tools and my favorite smell was the lumber section of Home Depot. My Mom, Dad, and two brothers all greatly influence who I am today.
My artwork showcases my love for thinking conceptually of innovative and humorous solutions, and usually carrying out these designs in a handcrafted manner.
When I graduated from the School of Visual Arts (on the Dean's List with a 4.0 GPA, woop woop!) I felt like I was on top of the world. I was fully confident in my design portfolio and what I had to offer any business creatively. Thankfully, I was given the opportunity to model and this allowed me a grace period of sorts. During this time I have been able to reflect on my creative abilities and zone in on what it is exactly that I wanted to do. Along with my friend Anna, we opened our own multi media business called AO Visual Media.
While working with AO Visual Media allows me to exercise my artistic abilities on a daily basis, I almost always crave more. Which is why I still draw, paint, wood-burn, silk screen, take photos and videos, and write in my free time!
Although modeling wasn't initially a part of my "plan", it has become a major part of my life. I've worked with: Ralph Lauren, Party City, Lane Bryant, Project Runway, Rainbow, Eloquii, Oh Pomp, Simply Be US, Macy's, Target, Bare Necessities, Curvy Couture, Burlington Coat Factory, InMocean, Bonton, Walmart, KMart, Prom Girl, Catherine's Web, Maurice's, Dillard's, Lord & Taylor, Christian Siriano, InStyle Magazine, Marina Rinaldi, Mynt 1792, Old Navy, Back-Up Jeans, Belk, Sydney's Closet, Allure Bridals, Wet Seal, Kohls, Gwynniebee.com, River Island, Addition Elle, Avenue, Taharai ASL, Teen Vogue, Mango, Spanx, and Hanes!
It has introduced me to ideas, people, and experiences, in ways that I had never expected. It has taught me a whole lot about myself, others, and life in general. Modeling has almost forced me to deal with all issues that I had/ still have with confidence and body image head on (check out my hashtag #OhhDoubleDareYou). I intend to write a lot about these issues and experiences as frequently as possible on my blog.
All of these things, my likes and dislikes, my successes and my failures, my past and my present, perfectly represent me. I am more than my posts on Instagram and the 140 characters that I have on Twitter to rant about how much I love chicken nuggets. I hope that my website can introduce you to all that I am! Enjoy!
